Papa made the rookie mistake of not putting on another diaper underneath after changing the HUGE diaper, and the ooze just continued to flow! Right onto the outside of the next diaper (as pictured to the right). He must of used so much energy to push out the HUGE poopooh, that he went right to sleep...only to be awoken by his next bath!

Happy First Father's Day Papa!
We got the chance to spend a lovely first Father's Day with our friends the DiNuzzo's in Colorado Springs this past Sunday. They took us up to Helen Hunt Falls in the Mountains which Jeremy absolutely loved! We got to share some delicious BBQ together along with creamy custard which topped off our trip! All in all, it was a wonderful day, and a new experience for our little family.
Simeon pooped out on the way home next to one of
his many girlfriends Lilly (a friend that is a girl.)

Welcome to the Christian Family Simeon!
One the awesome things that you get to experience in being a parent is seeing the greatest gift God has given us, come into His family plan. On May 27th, we got to witness Simeon Christian Cassidy come into the fullness of the Christian Family. One of the lines in Father Brendan's homily that stood out to us was "this is one of the greatest gift you can ever give your child." Simeon was baptized within a personal mass, in which we all stood around the baptismal font. He was so good as he slept through most of his baptism, and he didn't even wake up when Father poured the water over his head! Thank you to all who prayed for him during this special time. Below you can see some of the pictures of his special moment!
Pictured Below: (1) The Cassidy Family, and Brian and Erika Arp, the Godparent's ofSimeon. (2) Father Brendan baptising Simeon in the name of the Father, and the Son... (3) Father sealing Simeon with Sacramental oil (4) Posing with the Family, Grandma Normie, Mom and Dad and Father B.
We are in Denver!
We know it's been a bit, and you all are anxious to see how our little Simeon has changed in the last three weeks! We have been a bit crazy (or more like I have been crazy, and Jeremy has just been taking it all in like a champ), but we are now successfully moved in, and Simeon is getting a little bit more on a schedule. Denver is absolutely gorgeous as it's almost always sunny, even if it's not very warm. It's good to be closer to the mountains, and especially as the Midwest has been getting hit with some crazy weather!
We lover our little apartment, and it's nice to have twice the space that we once had. Frankly, I don't know how we had so much stuff crammed in one little space. Jeremy and I have been trying to get used the area, find a church, and just breathe a little after feeling as though we ran through the month of May. We are enjoying our little man more each day, and trying to get in some R &R.
Some of the highlights of since we have last posted are:
- Grandma Normie came to visit! She was a saint in helping us move, (the master packer) and played lots with our little man. Simeon got to have a lesson each day on how weird Grandpa Rossi is. :)
- Simeon was baptized at a very intimate Mass on May 27th by Father Brendan, OSB. He is one of our favorite priests, and made it very special for us. I will post some pictures of the baptism soon!
- We loaded up the truck and left Atchison the 30th of May! Simeon did pretty well, but he did end up in the moving truck with Dad, and Mom squished on the floor. (you do what you got to do right?)
- We crossed into Colorado on May 31st! How great it is to see the Rockies!
- We unpacked in a frenzy for 4 days as we prepared for family to come to Denver!
- Grandpa and Grandma Cassidy came to visit us, and spoiled us rotten! The best part is that Simeon got a mobile, and it is probably his favorite thing in the world, next to eating (which you will soon see).
(we just found out from the post office, that this is how our address is suppose to look!)

St. Simeon, the patron of big poopoohs
As soon as we hoisted him into the water, he started to exercise his lungs, bellowing his cry of discontentment. Mama started in on the washing, going straight for the bottom. After getting rid of the last of the cheese curd poopooh, we started see some air bubbles. Little Simeon decided that it was time to christen the bath tub as well! It wasn't too bad, and so we decided to continue with the bath.
Moving to the upper body, Papa started in on washing the head. Simeon still screaming at us, let us have it! He completely filled the little hammock that he sits in in his portable tub with a second poopooh! Such a little stinker. So he got a little break, got snug as a bug in a...towel, as Mama cleaned out the tub. He did receive another bath, but this time was much more content.

Proud of both the Men in my life
We have been constantly marveling at our new little one, that I forget to include the last bit of news about Jeremy. He came home and announced yesterday that he had been voted the Movie Gallery Teacher of the Year! I believe that people vote when renting movies. But I think he's a big deal, as he is so new and so young. I think we even get a free movie rental out of it which means date night for Mama and Papa! Wahoooooooooo!
Oxford some day?

Big Man in Town
Now that we are past the first week, we have started to have a few more visitors come around to see our little man. Along with going to the Dr. yesterday and finding out that he is a healthy eater (he gained 6 oz, now weighing 9lbs 3oz) he made his first visit to Benedictine's campus in the stroller. It's a challenge to get across campus when you are missionary without getting stopped, led alone having a newborn! There is now a rumor going around campus that the Cassidy Baby "is the most beautiful baby," and "He's so cute, definitely not an ugly baby like some." We are so proud (as Jeremy was worried we would have an ugly baby. Isn't he terrible!) :)

2 months later God put odor in the poopooh

If you are familiar with Bill Cosby Himself comedy routine, you would know that he does a great skit about being excited about seeing your child poopooh for the first time. This kind of describes the Cassidy family's first experience with Simeon Christian doing his thang!
Mama had just gone through the a morning feeding, in the wee hours, and Grandma Piraino was sitting up chatting with her. We had been waiting for Simeon to go number two for three days, and starting to get a little concerned as he was starting to look more jaundice. Mama decided to finger swipe his diaper and see if he was wet from his latest feeding. Grandma Piraino, took him out of Mama's hands insisting that she could check, because in her words "You will be changing a life time of diapers. I can do the first few." Grandma undid Simeon's diaper, and then it happened...Whamoooo! The poopooh began flowing!
Grandma remained calm for a couple of minutes, as she insisted we needed to let him get it all out. The seasoned Grandma had no problem with the odor, while new Mama Cass was no where in sight between the giggling, gagging and running over to wake her husband to let him know that our son had finally made a poopooh! Simeon filled two diapers, Grandma's hand, and even managed to christen his changing table. Being on the deleterious side, it was terribly funny to the three of us, and Mama Cass was barely able to make it to the bathroom herself!
Happy Mother's Day to all the Grandmas

Barefoot, Pregnant and in the Kitchen!!!

She is happy and ready. Diana is getting really close, about 1 1/2 weeks till the big day. Everything is going great. We had the opportunity to get another ultrasound this week, so we have some cool face pics of the little one. Also we have some more great news.
Diana is officially working for FOCUS Headquarters next year. She will start in the middle June and working for a new department that will house events planning, missions, and recruitment. She is so excited, and we are so blessed to have the opportunity to start our family while still being a part of our favorite family, FOCUS.
We will keep you updated and in our prayers. Please pray for us.

It's Been a While!!!
Well hello friends and family.
It was passed on to me that if I didn't get this page updated soon, I may not get to see my first born. So here I am doing so!!!!
All is getting very exciting here. We are gearing up (literally) for the birth of our baby. Diana is the most cute pregnant woman you have ever seen, and her students at BC tell her that every day. So far all is healthy and we are just hoping and praying for a great natural pregnancy. I am trying to get some pictures of her but she has been reluctant. However, we bought some cute spring maternity clothes, so maybe she will show off the baby!!
As for our life we have made some big decisions. We will be moving to Denver, CO this June. As soon as I get done with school in May, we will be packing up the little one and the little bit we have, and GO WEST!!!
This move is based on what we believe is God's call to the mission of the Catholic Church. I was humbly been accepted to enter the masters program at the Augustine Institute and will pursue a degree in Catechesis and Evangelization. Along with this I have been applying to teach in the Archdiocese in a K-8 school. I currently have three offers and am praying for the right situation.
Diana is hoping to join a new branch of FOCUS Headquarter that will be focusing on advancing FOCUS through events and recruitment. This is going to fulfill a great desire for her to continue in the vision of FOCUS, while still being able to be home with our new life. Please pray for both of these endeavors and that God's will be done.
We hope to hear from all of you more, and I promise to spend more time working on the blog and keeping you updated.

The Moment You All Have Been Waiting For......
Nope, no baby yet, it still has to cook for a few months!!!!!
Nope, no pictures of Diana's growing belly, Lucky for you Rene!!!
But we do have the results and pics from the ultrasound. We are in Atchison, so they are the good old 2D pictures, no 4D's. But you can see that there is a great side-profile and some cute feet. Please join in our joy and excitement that we have for this new life. Please continue to pray for us and the health of the baby.

Icicles in the Dark!!!

Break out the candles and fireplaces!! Because after the Ice Storm of 2007 we are still without power. It is Friday Dec. 14th. We lost power around 3:00 a.m. on Dec. 11th in the middle of the ice storm. This occurred when a tree limb fell on our supply line to our house ripping the ground, and line boom from the box. At least 50% of all the limbs on the trees in our yard are now on the ground. We experienced about 3/4-1 inch of ice build up. This ice build up wreaked havoc on most large trees and power poles. We are on about about 1700 homes in Atchison alone without power. With the assistance of FEMA, people are receiving power by the hour, but we are still without this afternoon. We are shooting for Monday, but the energy company told us it could be as long as Dec. 22nd before power is restored.
But don't worry, Mama, baby and I are staying at the FOCUS Green Door Apartment at night and our great friends the Arps (complete with fat cat, Simba) take us in during the day and for meals. It was pretty frustrating at first but now we know there is nothing we can do for now. Just pray and wait for the power companies to get caught up. I have included some pictures of the destruction below

The Glory of Building a Family
Hello Friends and Family,
Sorry for the delay on posting an update. But between work and baby we have had our hands full. First of all Diana is doing extremely well. Working through some expected morning sickness and the toughness of brushing a pregnant womans teeth. But the baby is about 4 1/2 inches long and beginning to have signs of showing on Mama. We will have some belly pictures soon.
As for work and mission. My job is going great. I had my first reward night with the Gentlemen's Club this last Friday night. Such a good time of some NCAA Football on the PS2 and lots of basketball and pizza. It was very successful and should set us up for some more great activities. Please pray for the boys and their changing ways.
Diana is working so hard on preparing for FOCUS National Conference 2008. She traveled to Grapevine, TX (just outside of Dallas) to survey the site for the conference and came back beyond excited, in her words the facility is "phenomenal." And Benedictine College has about 175 students signed up to go and FOCUS Nationally is expecting around 4000 students.
And finally we would all ask for your prayers on our future place of residence. About 2 weeks ago we traveled to Denver, CO. We are interested in moving there next year for Diana to work at FOCUS Headquarters if a job presents itself. And I am interested in furthering my education by persuing a masters degree at the Augustine Institute. I would also look at teaching in the Archdiocese of Denver. Please pray for God's will in our decision.
